Sewing
Today I made a reversible cape for Libby’s costume for a party tomorrow. She’s going as…..oops. I’m not supposed to tell! I’ll just have to post a picture tomorrow. A week or so ago, I made a little quilt all by hand as a thank you for a kind family. Here’s a picture of it. The actual dimensions are about 12 inches square.
You can’t really see the quilting, not that there is much. I find it soothing to quilt and sew by hand, although I was quite grateful for my sewing machine for those long, long side seams on the cape!
Tonight, I got to go shopping all by myself, just for myself. I found a pair of jeans which sort-of fit (no jeans seem to fit me–ever!), several nice turtleneck sweaters, a cardigan, and a shirt/sweater thing. Most of it was on sale, and I even got an extra 10% off at one store and 15% off at the other with coupons. Go, me!

Floor length cape? I can see a quilted heart in the middle, it looks very cute. I’ve never tried hand quilting because I thought it might frustrate, not relax.
Very nice. I’ve been thinking it’s time to get the sewing machine out too. I have been looking for directions I saw at one time for making a picture board. I have shoppers envy here, I never find good sales.
Yeah! Very pretty quilt, by the way. I started two quite a few years ago, but haven’t finished them. Someday, maybe.
And, thanks for praying for Hannah. She is a senior with cancer, and her life makes me realize that 3 essays a week pales miserably in comparison.
Speaking of essays, though . . . . I think Econ is calling.

I hear you about the blue jeans thing. When I find a pair that fits – I buy two, at least. Can’t wait to see the hallowe’en pictures! ~M.E.
Hi teacherperson! If I remember right, I LOVED the article your son wrote for the um… well, the magizine Katie edits. (it was a riot!!!) And thanks for the happy birthday!
Since you mentioned it…
“Go me” is right! Shopping for myself, by myself…can’t remember when that last happened. My mom is coming into town next week, and I’m hoping for a shopping trip that is at least for me…my only great pair of jeans is starting to wear through at the knees.
I really have a lot of mending to do! Thanks for reminding me! Hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend! It’s our first weekend with no soccer!
You are just SEW domesticated!!! ;P I must say, I’m quite impressed!! ALL HAND SEWN???!! AMAZING!
I went shopping the other day and found all sorts of things!! Great sales, too! Up to 70% off!! …… then my husband called and was ready to leave work (we were on a business trip with him in Holland, MI) ….. so I had to put it all back on the racks!
boo hoo!! Oh, well…. realistically, only a couple things really fit and looked good on me…. the rest were just sort of, “Oh, my gosh!! Only $4.60 for a nice white blouse that’s only a tiny bit too tight?? Well, I can just loose weight for THAT price!! Such a deal!” …. yeah, right! Maybe it was more like a blessing from GOD that he called!!?? ;D
A good place to buy jeans is the Gap. They have a lot of different fits from curvy to straight. They also have short, average and long lengths. I have found a few pairs there that fit great.
