Ah, the Suspense…
Yes, dear folk, I did actually iron pants and fold laundry for three hours last night. Boy, did my back ache when I was done! But, perhaps I burned a few calories from the mini Snickers, Milk Duds, gummy spiders, and other offerings from my dear children’s Halloween bags. Maybe the bend, grab, fold, and bend again aerobic exercise involved with all that folding worked? I can only persist in my fantasy world as I eat a Twizzler.
I decided to say “No” to the new writing project. Now I’m wondering why I even considered it. I wouldn’t mind writing in the future, but just not this week. So, it looks as if I’m free to move on to the rewrite of The King of Peach Fuzz! Perhaps I’ll think of a better title…
The kids and I decided (well, I decided) that we would attack the basement for our “Home Blessing” this week (a loose pilfering from Fly Lady). After 45 minutes of working, I proclaimed we’d try to work some more tomorrow and eat lunch. Phew! What chaos! I have all my craft and sewing supplies down there–thread flapping together, lace and velcro in a tangled pile, Wal-Mart bags full of partially-finished American Girl Doll sewing projects… Then, there was the storage area–boxes of camping gear, swimming pool toys, wreaths and decorations, summer clothes–but that area is mostly done now. The toys and dress up clothes still litter the floor. We don’t have nearly as many as we used to since the kids are older, but they still make quite a mess. And, the Hunter has all his hunting, fishing, fly tying, junky-junk stuff there taking over a whole corner. Eeeh. I didn’t even look at it! After reading about these post-Halloween horrors, I hope you have a nice, tidy place to sit and relax, reveling in the joys of order and cleanliness.
And for something completely different: thanks to LJ, I now realize that my Xanga initials also stand for “toilet paper.” Alas…

Good job with taking on the basement! I miss my basement so much! We moved 3 years ago and we’re on a crawl space and have little storage space. But cleaning the basement was never my favorite chore! Funny how much you miss can something you dreaded when you no longer have it to dread!!
I just like the fact that “The King of Peach Fuzz” isn’t completely in Italics…
Who says it’s not? Huh? Your mother should teach you some manners and an allowance for small typos, the same allowance that she shows you.
Happy All-Saints Day back at ya! You sound much more productive than me. We are recovering from late night candy mayhem!!
Happy all saints day!!!
I once saw the Fly Lady on tour… It was an interesting show she gave, I can tell you!
*snickers at the last comment*
So, have you finally finished the Saxon Math stuff, or are you still in the process of devising various tortures for poor, innocent people like me?
Hey, King Peach Fuzz sounds cool.
. . . in a weird sort of way.
Nope, I don’t have a clean, tidy place to relax, unfortunately. My desk is piled high with junk. *looks sheepish* But cleaning out basements and attics and garages and the like is always fun. You discovered cool, yet slightly useless old things you forgot you had. It’s even more fun rummaging around in other people’s basements, attics, gar— oh, you get the idea.
I think that the Hunter is just trying to get back at you for calling his gear “junky-junk.” Ken always shakes his head at the messes I create when I tackle our closets. I can just imagine what a project cleaning a basement would be.
I’m still reeling from the realization that you, who are so much busier than I am, iron!
I love Fly LAdy, but she would be quite disgusted with me. I do have my home broken into chore zones and assigned days, it is just a matter of keeping my family in a cage so that they do not actually follow me dumping toys and tracking mud as I am cleaning chaos zones 1-5!!
I’ve got to go through a bunch of stuff too. I thought I was the only one! I’m just going through posts and catching up. I left some earlier comments. Thanks for letting us peek into your basement.
i wish i was sitting here in neatness typing this comment. but i am not. ( i should get off xanga and straighten up!) i am definitely in c.h.a.o.s.!
i am going to try and talk the hubby into taking the kids somewhere sat so i can get organized again! what a disaster! lol
(what is this story you are writing?)
Horaay for saying “No”!
And yes… I think it’s interesting how different people have different interests, besides also the fact that different life situations tend to influence our interests… I find philosophy, theology, and politics extremely fascinating at this point in life, but if someday I’m in a situation more like yours, taking care of my kids would probably be a much higher interest/priority than politics/etc…
Regardless, fellowship/”sharpening” is good… 1 Corinthians 12:1-27…
