  • Fall Rambles

Do you like the new look of the site? I was feeling fall-ish, but I think I’ve got a busy-ish look instead.  Oh, well. At least it’s orange and brown.

I’ve begun writing the Saxon stuff. It’s taking me a lot longer to write, type, and format than I thought it would.  I worked for about four hours and only got one lesson done.  Yikes!  I have to complete ten lessons by Tuesday, and last time I checked, I didn’t have a spare 40 hours this week to work on a writing project.  TGD suspects I’m doing too much. I surely hope so.  Since he’s my editor, I guess he gets the final say.

In other news, I’m feeling better with the head cold, but now I have a putrid throat.  Aren’t 19th century disease names more interesting than ours?  Strep throat–bah!  Putrid throat–interesting.  Actually, I don’t know that I have streptococcus, but it is going around. One good thing about this cold is I’ve had no appetite and it hurts to swallow. Therefore, I’ve not been tempted into my usual gluttony.

What’s your favorite disease or disease name?

  • I love your fall background! Living where you do, I imagine you actually get some honest-to-goodness fall color! You’ll have to get out there and take some pictures when it actually happens.

So sorry to hear of your ailment. Hoping that that some new-fangled 21st century medicine will do the trick.

Disease names? I’ve always been fond of “catarrh.”

  • I love the new look, although it does make me a little homesick.  I don’t think SA will see leaves like those!

  • I’m being forced to pay for everything that’s related to my phone, but it’s really not bad at all. I got the phone for $10 because it was on sale and the bill is only $12.22 a month because I’m on the family plan. There was an activation fee, but that was only $25. Also, I get free long-distance calling, free calls (sent and received) after 9:00 and on weekends, and free Verizon mobile-to-mobile. It’s really convenient! I used it just tonight to call my mother, in fact

But, if you don’t want to give in just like that you could always make him work for it…

  • I like the fall colors.  I’ve never thought about my favorite disease name.  I like the way scurvy rolls off the tongue.

  • Aah, so many to choose from?  How can you pick just one favorite disease?

  • Join the “bleh my throat hurts club”. It goes hand in hand with “it takes me about 1.25 hours to do an Excelsior page” club.

    –K.

PS. I think the best cure is lots of tea.

  • I don’t know that I have a favorite but I always remember my grandfather saying so and so had the piles.

Love the fall background.  I haven’t quite figured out how to do that yet.

  • Oh my WORD! That is quite a coincidence, seeing as I just wrote an e-mail to my friends who are working on this siblings/story thing that is all about names for diseases, the plague, actually. I just finished reading the responses two seconds ago. I was trying to decide whether to call it “The Black Waste” or “Grey Fever” or “King Benevere’s Curse” or “Scarlet Plague” among with other strange titles. I finally decided on a combination of The Black Waste and King Benevere’s Curse. Most interesting topic.

I hope you feel better soon! A couple weeks ago I was the one with a horrible sore throat and a leaky nose and absolutely no energy whatsoever. Suspicious. If colds can be passed through the computer. . . they’d be computer viruses. Get well SOON!

I’m in a fallish mood. The orange backdrop for the text keeps it from being too busy.

  • Whoops, a couple interesting typos in there, or typo-ish things. “Among with”.

  • Piles = hemorroids

Thanks for the tips on changing colors.  I changed them and now they changed them for me.
