Ha-ha, Heat, and Happy to Me!
Yesterday, we went to see Monster House. I went because the kids really wanted to see this latest animated feature, but it turned out that I liked the movie better than they did! Yes, it had a creepy house and lots of humor, but much of the humor was funny to parents but not so funny to the kids. It’s not that it was crude or unacceptable; they just didn’t find it funny.
For example, at the start of the movie, the parents of the main character are leaving for an overnight conference. As they pull away in the car, the mother says to the father, “Roll down the window and tell DJ you love him.”
“He knows I love him,” says Dad.
“Roll down the window and tell him you love him,” insists Mom.
“He knows I love him,” replies an irritated Dad.
Mom leans over Dad and rolls down the window. “Bye, honey! We both love you!”
That was very funny to a mother, but the kids didn’t find it so. (And perhaps you don’t find it so as well. I promise; it really is funny to see it!) It’s not a movie for the easily frightened little kids (scary house, really!). Rachel had no problems with it, but her buddy had to shut her eyes in several parts.
I took a quiz thing thanks to LaDameShallot. Here are my results:
You scored as Earth. You are earth- A nice, calm, being. You have no temper. But be careful- people around you want you to change, so protect your personalitybefore you find yourself a person half the greatness of you!
what element are you? Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Light, Dark |
Of course, as you can see by the bar graph, I didn’t really score as earth. I’m a nice mix of everything except fire and air, which didn’t surprise me too much. Not that any of this really matters, does it?
It’s super hot here. I am thankful, thankful, thankful that we have that nice pool! If you’re local (or want to drive here), consider yourself invited to swim–really!Friday is the sixteenth wedding anniversary of TGD and me. I’ve changed my profile pic in honor of it. He brought me flowers last night for the “Week of Anniversary Celebration” (which really beats Dia De Amor, eh?).
He’s playing in a softball game tonight (undefeated in the regular season and beat every team so far by the ten-run mercy rule!), so I won’t get to know what tonight’s surprise is until later. He said I should note the numbers. I got ONE bouquet of flowers last night. I’m expecting some mathematical progression. Either it’s the first four squares (1, 4, 9, 16) or some variation of sixteen (1, 6, 16…). What do you think the mathematical significance will be, and what do you think I’ll get?
