Ha-ha, Heat, and Happy to Me!
Yesterday, we went to see Monster House. I went because the kids really wanted to see this latest animated feature, but it turned out that I liked the movie better than they did! Yes, it had a creepy house and lots of humor, but much of the humor was funny to parents but not so funny to the kids. It’s not that it was crude or unacceptable; they just didn’t find it funny.
For example, at the start of the movie, the parents of the main character are leaving for an overnight conference. As they pull away in the car, the mother says to the father, “Roll down the window and tell DJ you love him.”
“He knows I love him,” says Dad.
“Roll down the window and tell him you love him,” insists Mom.
“He knows I love him,” replies an irritated Dad.
Mom leans over Dad and rolls down the window. “Bye, honey! We both love you!”That was very funny to a mother, but the kids didn’t find it so. (And perhaps you don’t find it so as well. I promise; it really is funny to see it!) It’s not a movie for the easily frightened little kids (scary house, really!). Rachel had no problems with it, but her buddy had to shut her eyes in several parts.
I took a quiz thing thanks to LaDameShallot. Here are my results:
You scored as Earth. You are earth- A nice, calm, being. You have no temper. But be careful- people around you want you to change, so protect your personalitybefore you find yourself a person half the greatness of you! Water
63% Earth
63% Dark
63% Light
63% Air
25% Fire
13% what element are you? Fire, Water, Air, Earth, Light, Dark
created with QuizFarm.comOf course, as you can see by the bar graph, I didn’t really score as earth. I’m a nice mix of everything except fire and air, which didn’t surprise me too much. Not that any of this really matters, does it?
It’s super hot here. I am thankful, thankful, thankful that we have that nice pool! If you’re local (or want to drive here), consider yourself invited to swim–really!Friday is the sixteenth wedding anniversary of TGD and me. I’ve changed my profile pic in honor of it. He brought me flowers last night for the “Week of Anniversary Celebration” (which really beats Dia De Amor, eh?).
He’s playing in a softball game tonight (undefeated in the regular season and beat every team so far by the ten-run mercy rule!), so I won’t get to know what tonight’s surprise is until later. He said I should note the numbers. I got ONE bouquet of flowers last night. I’m expecting some mathematical progression. Either it’s the first four squares (1, 4, 9, 16) or some variation of sixteen (1, 6, 16…). What do you think the mathematical significance will be, and what do you think I’ll get?

Wow, were you ever gorgeous!!( you still are;)) Happy Anniversary. That means you are exactly 10 years behind us! I hope that mathematical progression happens!! Enjoy your special week!
Hubba, hubba! Flutemom38 is right, that new profile picture is gorgeous, but then again, I have found you gorgeous for 16+ years! I had better go get that next anniversary gift…
Your wedding picture reminds me of Sandra Bullock, and that’s not a bad thing.
If the progression is indeed the squares, you’re going to need a big vase by day seven!
What a beautiful bride you are!!
Let me know if you like this book–the reveiw looked interesting on Amazon. Tonight the girls and I (and of course, Michael’s in for the ride) are going to watch Sense and Sensibility wiht a big bowl of popcorn. Isabel has already read this and Pride and Prejudice and Mansfield Park. Erin just checked out Northanger Abbey from the library–we are definitely a house of girls!!
Christopher has been gone now 3 weeks and it is NOT FUN. But it is getting more “numb” now and not so severe in the impact. We are doing ok and I am spending more time with the children. It is a good thing.
I have made out my schedules for school–only 1 more to go (revamp the chore chart) and revise the Meal Chore chart (discovered a couple more tasks that need doing!). We begin on Monday, only doing Geog, Science, and IEW writing–along with the basics of Math and grammar. We are switching to Rod and Staff, you’ll be happy to know:). I was able to buy used from VegSource and am grateful. Only have Gr. 3 and 5 purchased so far–I will be starting Tara (gr4) in the Gr 3 and starting Isabel (gr8) in the Gr 5. I figure Isabel will get through fairly quickly, as she has had some grammar in the past. She has not done diagramming, though, that’s why I am starting back so far.
Have just started “The Well Trained Mind” and am really enjoying it. Will be using their book on Teaching Children to REad and also their “First Language Lessons” or something like that, with Grace (6yo-1st gr) and Adlai (almost 8yo-3rd gr). I am getting excited!
I guess this is the letter I should send to you. But I am not getting too personal here. I will only do that in a letter or private email.
I think getting that pool was one of the smartest moves you could make–your family will enjoy it so much in the years to come! We have cold weather today–low 70′s. It’s been 90′s and now in 2 days drops 20 degrees! Crazy. Jeans, long-sleeved shirt and socks and shoes are the order for today.
I should go–I am whipped–it’s naptime!

Great picture! We celebrated 18 back in March. I totally understand the “love you” humor from the movie………maybe I should go see it!
Mmm, maybe El Mano can learn from TGDJ how to incorporate math into romance! Congratulations to both of you on the anniversary, although you got a “hubba, hubba” from a chicken!
Lol, you’re a mush of elements. I guess that just means you’re unique.
So it’s hot there, is it? Oddly enough it’s not hot here at all. It’s crazy. This is Tucson, it’s supposed to be scorching! But we’ve had rain for about five days in a row. To confuse matters even more, my grandparents who are visiting from California, left behind 112 degree weather. Insane! My dad does tell stories about his sneakers melting on the pavement one summer there, though.
Lovely new profile pic.
You look so pretty!
Happy Anniversary! Hope that you two have a great week.
Wow! Such a scandalous dress!
You look absolutely gorgeous.
As far as numbers go, if you throw out the idea of sixteen, TDGJ (when’d he add the J, btw?) could be setting you up for a Fibonacci sequence or building to a perfect number (where the factors of a number X added together equal the value of that number X). OR, he could be doing something totally unrelated to number sequences/patterns and using gifts to remind you of certain milestones in your courtship and/or marriage, e.g., 1= first date, 23= your age when you got married, 15= the day of the month he proposed, etc. I’m eager to hear what your clever husband has arranged for you!
Have a very happy anniversary!!
Happy Anniversary! I might have to take you up on that invite for the pool. It is so hot!
Your wedding picture is beautiful! I hope you had a very happy anniversary.
I definitely feel inclined to dive into your pool; however, my schedule won’t allow me.
I’m a bit obsessed with changing my background, as you can tell! I get a new one whenever I feel bored of the old one, which is usually a few days after putting it up!
