A Tribute to the Birthday Boy
We all know what a fifteen year
old wants on his birthday. He doesn’t want a new bike or CD player. He
doesn’t want Starfield, Stellar Kart, and Aaron Shust CDs. He doesn’t
even want a box of Pirates of the Caribbean tatoo band aids or a Camp
Kanestake t-shirt, even if it’s what he got.No, what every teenage boy wants is to be embarrassed by his mother and
to have everyone on Xanga say, “Oh wasn’t he so cute!” So, to honor
his deeply felt wish, I present a birthday tribute of Nathan.Nathan at one week old and almost eleven pounds.
Now we are two.
A rootin’ tootin’ four year old cowboy. He shot every marching band in the Curwensville parade later that day.
And, when you turn five, you can have a real weapon. Just don’t shoot your mother.
Basketball for six year olds, anyone?
An eight year old’s triumph–an Awana Grand Prix award!
Now, how about a cool-looking shot for Christmas. It just wouldn’t be the holidays without shooting something. These Civil War reenactments just kill me. Can they shoot eleven year olds?
I am SOOOO ready for football. Unless, of course, I break my thumb.
Don’t you think this tribute is getting a little boring, Mom?
And here he is today, the birthday dude.
Happy birthday!

Very sweet! Oh how cute! Happy birthday and congrats to mom!
Oh! awww how cute!!
Nice pictures! I hope he has a very Happy Birthday!
AAAWWWWWWWW
lol yes we all know that the phrase “Oh, he was so cute!” would embarrass any 15 year old (works on 13 year olds too, i have found!) lol
happy birthday, teacherperson’s son! hope it is awesome!
I had trouble getting into the book…..but once I was in it was a quick read. I have read all of her books as well and I do like them. This was not the BEST of her work, but I would still recommend it! If you happen to live in Wichita, Kansas I would loan you my copy! lol
A great tribute.
One week and eleven pounds…woah! Hope that the birthday boy is having a great day!!
Actually this dude who started the group came up with that name on his own. It’s a funky fresh name so it makes sense you’d think of it too
There sure were a lot of weapons in those pictures. He started his fascination with guns at an early age didn’t he?
Wow, do they really grow up that fast? I never realized how much Michael and Nathan look alike!
Aww, those are really good pictures. I wish my camera could get them as good as that. Or maybe it’s just the user.
That’s hilarious that you had to switch your xanga settings to prove you were an adult just to read my entry!!! Lol! The reason must be that I rated my site something goofy, kind of like my warning thing at the beginning of the entry. I thought it would just show the silly rating, so I was confused when I didn’t see anything after I’d posted. I’ll have to see if I can go fix that.
Great pics!! I was going through the photo album a few months ago trying to find pictures of a girlfriend and I when we were younger and I was struck with the way I (and my whole family) has changed. It’s so neat to see the progression as you have done above.
I wanted to quickly answer the question I saw you had posted on the pahomeschoolers web board. (At least, it better have been you . . . I hope another Mary Sellers isn’t hanging around!) Mom has always used hours with Megan and I and it has worked really well. For high school, I’ve found the “High Schoolers Home Journal” thingie that the Richmans sell extremely helpful. I can e-mail you a scanned page to show you how I’ve used it if you like, as it can be a bit tricky at first — but very helpful when it comes time to count credit hours!
For elementary school/junior high, Mom and Dad designed a page where we highlighted what we did each day and then counted up the hours. It was quite easy and very handy. I can easily e-mail you a sample page of that, too, if you’d like.
Good to see you on Friday! (And, if you know the code for comment boxes could you email it to me? If you don’t know it off the top of your head just let me know and I’ll e-mail Josh. Thanks muchly!)
–K.
What a nice tribute!!!! I think Nathan looks alot like Michael in the 4th picture.
Oh how cute! I love seeing how he changes and still looks just like himself. Happy Birthday.
Oh, happy belated birthday to Nathan–our anniversary is that same date! Looking at the pics of him as a toddler reminded me of when I babysat him. Hope you are enjoying this hot weather and your new pool. Tell your family hello. Thile
Awesome photo essay!! I think Nathan needs more eye-makeup if he’s trying to look like Depp in that last picture.
