Can a Person with No Arms Play Football?
This question was the topic of debate during James’ Father’s Day dinner at Hoss’s (a steak place). David and Michael thought that someone definitely could, but opinions were divided. Then, the topic switched to legless folk and sports, which prompted all the children (Rachel included) to discuss the Penn State wrestler who has no legs.
The conversation continued as we left the restaurant. “What about someone without a nose?” one of the kids posed. David answered, “He could play any game he wanted except Sniff the Tail on the Donkey.”
HA!

Isn’t there someone who just kicks? That might be a good position for someone without arms, but I don’t really know enough about football to say for sure!
haha. that is a funny conversation! my kids always play games like that. one of them will decide its the “land without elbows” or something…and the three of them walk around the house trying to live life without the ability to bend their arms. are my kids really bored or really creative…lol…i am not sure which it is! i wonder if the people around you at the restaurant were enjoying the discussion!
Mph…hmph…*snort* BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
wow, you guys are so awesome!
All kidding aside, the paraplegic PSU wrestler mentioned by Teacherperson in this blog entry, Rohan Murphly, is truly impressive. Check out http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/06064/665352.stm for a great story about him . (There is a reference in this Post-Gazette article which refers to a power lifting competition in Korea. Murphy took bronze at that event, lifting just over 280 pounds. He weighs easily less than half that!)
I was going to say was JerseyFam did. He could be the kicker. Obviously he wouldn’t be able to catch, and to be a good lineman you’d have to use your arms.
