  • One Project Done

Well, it’s Friday of spring break, and I officially have one project completed. Rachel picked out the fabric and pattern for me to make a dress for her American Girl doll.  I just finished it tonight.  Of course, I poked myself with a needle while sewing on the flowers and bled on it, but that’s typical. (And, you can’t see it in the picture!)

Libby completed her Red Cross babysitter training course today. She said that she didn’t learn anything new, but I’m sure it was helpful.  In the afternoon, we went bowling with the Wilsons where I bowled horribly, but Rachel got seven spares in two games!  (We all use bumpers, which gives me even less of an excuse.) Michael was one pin away from a turkey!  (He had two strikes in a row, and on his next ball, he knocked down nine.)  No one is amazing–Nathan pulled the high score at 123.

The Good Doctor seems to be on the mend, although we are glad he has another few days before he starts back to work. I’m quite glad that I still have a few more days left in spring break.  I wonder if I can have a two week break?  Sigh.

I’ve become interested in the life of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, so I’ve requested a bio of him from the library.  I’ll let you know if his life is fascinating.  He was a playwright in the early 1800s, if you were trying to place his name.

I’ve fixed up the site in a less fussy way, although it’s still a bit…something.  Well, I’ll leave it for a while and be Miss Pink.

  • Oh Mary, prettiest background award
    Nice dress for Rachel’s doll.
My bowling scores are pretty embarrassing too
…ah well, still fun to go.
    Blessings!

  • I love, love, love your new picture. I know it’s just an ordinary snapshot, but the person inside shines through. It feels as though you would be the most wonderful person to have a cup of tea with. I wish I could come right over . . .

  • The dress is adorable.  I really need to take some more sewing classes, or just practice more at home.  (I have plenty of patterns!)

And I think I am probably the world’s worst bowler.  I refused to go for several years because of my embarrasing (sp?) scores!  I think I have finally matured enough to go now for the enjoyment of time shared with others!

  • Hi Mary!  I really like the new floral background and the light pink–perfect for spring!  Glad you had a good spring break and completed that pretty dress for the doll.  What a gloomy day here, yesterday was so warm and sunny.  Tell your family hello and maybe we can plan a day trip to see you all this spring.  Thile

  • Nice job on the dress!

  •      I knew you would come up with a neat layout. I like it. I like the profile pic, too.

That dress you made for the American Girl doll is sweet. I loved American Girls dolls when I was little. In fact, I still do. My sister and I have our Samantha and Kirsten dolls dressed in Victorian clothing and sitting at Samantha’s wicker table with a little china tea set just for decoration. It looks so pretty and girly and nice.

It’s funny, but when you talk about “Rachel” and “Libby” I automatically think of Rachel Rossano (anavrea) and Libby Russell (violetlilly). Who are you’re Libby and Rachel?

I posted two new chapters of my story and I’d love to have you’r advice on them. Of course, if you keep it up too long I might have to pay you, lol! I’m afraid they’re not better than the last section, messier, in fact, but I can never write a neat first draft. I’m having fun, though.

         Love ya lots!

  • You mention wanting a two week spring break. Up until the last couple of years most schools in Western New York had two weeks of spring break, always the week prior to and following Easter. They’ve changed to a one week spring break recently and added a one week winter break in mid-February. A two week spring break was always fun but I think the teachers felt kids forgot a bit after two weeks.
