Month: April 2005

  • I had a delightful weekend, or rather a delightful Friday
and Saturday.  James and I dropped the kids off at my mom’s and headed to Slippery
    Rock University

for the MAA spring meeting.  (Lord Jabez will recall those, I’m
sure.)  James went off to his meetings and talks, and I was left to my own
devices.  Fortunately, I had a stack of books, and the outlet malls in Grove
    City
were a mere 15 minutes away.

We met up for a banquet which was fun, as I got to meet a lot of the
    mathematicians form Juniata College
of whom he’s often spoken.  We checked into the hotel, and then James went
back to the conference for the student talks and pizza party. I amused myself
by watching What Not to Wear and
    reading.
Skip to the next morning when a sleepy James got up for the morning breakfast
meeting, leaving me to sleep in and enjoy the free continental breakfast. They
even had a waffle iron and Belgian waffle batter! Yum!  James came back,
took me to the conference where I attended two 15-minute math talks (one of
which was James’). Then, I fled and read.

When the conference ended, we went to a really nice restaurant called The Iron
Bridge, which, as you might have guessed, is right next to an iron bridge. We
went along with a married mathematician couple who were extremely pleasant.

The drive back to my mom’s was equally pleasant with lots of chat about
homeschooling and other things which interested me.  We ate supper at my
mom’s and arrived quite tired back to the house. Loosing the hour last night
    didn’t help, of course.

Now, I’ve got lots of grading to do, but at least I can face it with a clean
house, as James and the children cleaned it thoroughly today. And, James even
    made supper.

How’s that for a nice life?
